"A cagoule, cagoul, kagoule or kagool (from the French cagoule meaning hood) is the British English term for a lightweight (usually without lining), weatherproof raincoat or anorak with a hood, which often comes in knee-length." Interview with Albam founder: "In terms of design the whole team and our customers influence what we do and as a result the Albam influences are diverse from workwear, technical outerwear- which is something I can wear personally when out climbing – tailoring, bench made shoes, wardrobe basics, modernism, crafted products etc etc. Personally I think clothes get better the more you wear them. Great fabrics just get better with age, denim, wax cotton, shirting cloth, and shoes. And that gives the garments timelessness for your wardrobe. One of our benchmarks is that we don’t want someone to look like they are wearing head to toe Albam from the standpoint of how the garments are made. That is why we use specific factories for specific garments and play to their strengths rather than dictating and removing this handwriting. We were sorting out our archive in the studio and it is really interesting to see garments that we first produced and those now. Sure, we have learnt and are still learning a massive amount but the garments ring true to this benchmark. Simply put, if the garments get better and better then you will want to wear them more and more."

"A cagoule, cagoul, kagoule or kagool (from the French cagoule meaning hood) is the British English term for a lightweight (usually without lining), weatherproof raincoat or anorak with a hood, which often comes in knee-length. A cagoule which can be rolled up into a very compact package and carried in a bag or pocket was invented by Noel Bibby of Peter Storm Ltd. in the early 1960s. It has an integral hood, elasticated or drawstring cuffs, and a few poppers or a short zip at the neck. It does not open fully at the front and must be pulled on over the head. In some versions, when rolled up, the hood or front pocket doubles as a bag into which the rest of the coat is pushed. It became very popular in the United Kingdom during the 1970s, going by such trademarks as Pack-a-Mac" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cagoule

Twitter and the Ultimate Algorithm: Signal Over Noise (With Major Business Model Implications)
Note: I wrote this post without contacting anyone at Twitter. I do know a lot of folks there, and as regular readers know, have a lot of respect for them and the company. But I wanted to write this as a "Thinking Out Loud" post, rather than a reported article. There's a big difference - in this piece, I am positing an idea. It's entirely possible my lack of reporting will make me look like an...
First Official Photo: Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

Warner Bros has released the first official photo of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises. The photo, which appeared on the official website, TheDarkKnightRises.com, has a file name of “selina_kyle.jpg”. Most comic fans know that Kyle is the secret identity of the Batman villainess… but I find it interesting that the file uses that name and not “Catwoman”. Is it possible that...

an invite for a pint of cider
I’ve never felt comfortable with the decision to accept PR contact because, I don’t know why, it feels a little…dirty – but yes, I have done it (so before you slag me off, I am ‘tainted’, hehe). It feels like a bit of a slippery slope: once you start accepting freebies, at what point do you a) stop because free stuff is ace especially when you’re poor and b) does it impugn on...

When patents attack Android
I have worked in the tech sector for over two decades. Microsoft and Apple have always been at each other’s throats, so when they get into bed together you have to start wondering what's going on. Here is what’s happening:
Android is on fire. More than 550,000 Android devices are activated every day, through a network of 39 manufacturers and 231 carriers. Android and other platforms are...
